Medieval Times In Modern Days

Although we sit at our computers and diligently tap on the keyboards, there comes a point when the theory of living in another time or world needs to be acted out in reality.  To cater to such needs, the popularity of dinner theatres based on Medieval Times has gained much popularity in some regions.  To ensure the full experience of living in the days of Camelot, the employees of the establishment are fully clad in period costumes and converse in the language of the times.  Decorations within and outside the premises bear semblance to castles with various crests displayed all around.  Dishes are served using ingredients of the period on suitable cutlery such as metal goblets and dishes.  Since implements were probably non-existent then, guests are expected to dine with their hands.  Perhaps the injection of being over the top lends an air of reality to the whole atmosphere as guests are further entertained with jousting and sword fights.  As riders show up on horses and trot around the arena, guests are also subject to incredulous shows of hunting birds under their masters’ bidding.

 

Going a step further, there are event organizers which can don up your special occasion in the theme of Medieval Times.  If you choose to celebrate your birthday as King Arthur with all the trimmings of knights, handmaidens with the usual group of renegade outlaws, anything is possible if the budget is right.  It will certainly be an event talked about many moons after as your family and friends are transformed into various characters.  To add to the experience, the organizers may set up booths to demonstrate their skills with the bow and arrow, axe throwing, jousting and sword fights.

 

Highland Games are a great source of experiences of these Medieval Times.  Remakes of battles between clans are carried out for the enjoyment of the audience.  Man clad in traditional costumes fight one another, clashing swords whilst defending themselves with shields.
